If thou art a man, admire those who attempt great things, even though they fail.
It is surprising how work itself can change your mood. And through the gradual progress you feel how your chest starts puffing out. When you feel you are giving the best of yourself, when you see you’re doing something you’ve trained you and your own work shows that in fact you were prepared to face such challenges. You notice that your own gears were rusty and this “work slap” has done a perfect lubricant job. To the extent that you come to feel you are eager to replant battle.
No longer in the workplace, but in all your facets. It has been the kick in the ass you needed to start moving the above written and wipe the cobwebs in several respects. To get back up and keep walking, after failing you haven’t even noticed that you had been gradually slowing down to an almost complete halt. The recent Netflix series “Luke Cage” has a very interesting slogan in this regard:
“Always forward, forward always.”
It can be interpreted in several ways, but one of them is echoing in my head, so we understand each other: Keep moving and be blunt about it. Never stop moving, never stop fighting and never focus on past defeats. They are what made you get where you are, they are the foundations of the person you are now and your future defeats will hold victories yet to come.
Since the person who ended up being is nothing more than an amalgam of both sides of that coin. That person you think you want to become (or are already but you don’t want to accept it for some strange reason), you need those losses, you need to bite the dust to really appreciate the sweetness of the air at the mountain top. One would be exiguously meaningless without the other, because without a point of comparison, like a charismatic villain to a hero, they do’t shine with all the intensity they should.
That’s what takes us forward, not our victories alone, but our ability to learn from defeats and not be bend by the weights of the failure. That ballast will do nothing but strengthen your back if you keep your head high. Equip you with the necessary experience to accomplish all that you set your mind to and grant the best tools to make it happen. Since no one is born knowing, no one can always win and pity those without the acidity of failure to their credit when they are faced with the sweetness of victory.
Because remember, you could always be blue.
